Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as a American musician and rapper releasing sly tracks that tackled issues such as racial and sexual identity with a comedic twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood her career, she was able to make a few songs. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was from the trumpet. Later, she began hip-hop and classical training. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. It wasn't until after graduating that she shifted her focus towards music. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet eventually landing on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. It also included other viral hits like the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. This track was directly linked into another venture Awkwafina's NYC a travel guide published in 2015. In addition to having published a book, her other career was as a performer. As well as early shows that included Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a series of notable performances, which included Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. That June she issued the EP In Fina We Trust.
