Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father's departure from the family members, she was raised up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. When she was a infant, Ford struggled with anxious disorders, obsessive/compulsive and was afflicted by word associations. Ford began to be attracted to acting as a teenager and joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, however, she decided after one week that she was a poor fit there. Ford then applied to be a student at the Central School of Speech and Drama and received an acceptance on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall - who later was the character Pete Tyler in Doctor Who - was one of her classmates. Ford was able to graduate in 1993, but she made her television debut in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate made her television debut in 1991, appearing in shows such as The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. She also worked regularly in the theatre, eventually joining in the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate was recognized as a stand-up comedian that has been added to her portfolio in 1996.
