
Rachel Keller is a fictional character from The Ring film series. The character was invented by producer-writer Ehren Kruger and portrayed by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist in The Ring and The Ring Two that share similarities with Reiko Asakawa from the earlier Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist who has to find a way to escape the death penalty after viewing an unlucky video tape she came across while investigating the death of her niece. In The Ring Two, Rachel is required to investigate the past of Samara Morgan following the death of her son who becomes sick with an unknown ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller as an investigative reporter is contacted by her sister Ruth to look into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Katie's death. She informs Rachel that she discovered her daughter's disfigured corpse in the closet, and the reason for her death was a heart attack despite Katie being healthy and healthy as a teenager. Katie's friends share with Rachel the tale of the legend of the cursed filmtape and Katie's friend Becca is in a mental institution for watching Katie dying. Rachel also discovers Katie's boyfriend, as well as two of her acquaintances died in bizarre accidents on the same evening at 10 PM. Rachel discovered that Anna had an adopted child named Samara who could burn disturbing images into the minds and bodies of people, animals, as well as objects. Rachel is introduced to Anna's widower Richard and he asks her leave after she starts to ask questions about Samara.
